Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
2. Brownie Batter: Combine melted butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients.
3. Cookie Dough: Cream together softened butter, sugars, and egg. Add vanilla extract. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually combine with wet ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips.
4. Combine: Pour brownie batter into the prepared pan. Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough on top and swirl together.
5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
6. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
For chewier brownies, use more brown sugar and slightly underbake. For cakey brownies, use less butter and bake longer. Try different chocolate chips or add nuts to the cookie dough. Enhance brownie batter with espresso powder or swirls of peanut butter.
